Today’s impulse, a decision to walk home from work, transformed a routine commute into an unexpected journey of 15,000 steps. It was a route I’d never taken on foot, and as the miles unfolded, the streets revealed their beauty, and I felt my own presence gracing those open spaces, each step a discovery.

That extensive walk, each mile a deliberate choice, culminated in the singular pleasure of a bath – a deep muscle soaking indulgence, a treatment for all the senses. I could feel the soothing warmth of the water, smell the orange scented candles, see the sun’s rays dancing on the water, glazing my skin with warmth and fire. I could hear the welcoming sound of nostalgic music, which brought a smile to my lips, its lyrics echoing familiar truths that made me nod in quiet agreement. Every touch of the soft, unique bubbles was a gentle caress, the sensation of pure contentment was almost palpable.

It was in this serene stillness, soaking in a moment that was entirely mine, that the lessons of the walk solidified. 2 insights came to light, born from the consistent success of these mindful miles.  First, the absolute necessity of prioritizing these walks, making them a cherished part of the day. And second, the power of leaving room for incentives – for when the body has given much, a beautiful reward like this long, warm soak is not merely appreciated but truly earned
